SUSTAINABILITY 101

Welcome! Here is an overview of how our members are working towards a sustainable future for Canadians by providing safe and beneficial products that improve their lives every day.

How are we doing this?

Our members manufacture, formulate, package and distribute consumer products for Canadians. A sustainable future is based on the links between the environment, people's health, social well-being and the economy. Our members follow the CCSPA Environmental, Health and Safety Code of Ethics.

As an industry, we are committed to the goals of reducing waste, energy, packaging, water and electricity. A sustainable future is based on new product formulations and packaging to meet these goals. Please read "Time to Concentrate on Smaller Packages" to find out more about our efforts. Please also check out Concentrate on the Future for more information on an exciting initiative for consumers who wish to use concentrated products!

CCSPA is also supportive of the recycling and appropriate collection of packaging and waste in the various provincials programs in Canada. CCSPA is a member of the Board of Directors of Stewardship Ontario, who are responsible for the Blue Box Recycling Program and the new collection of paint and other consumer product materials (Municipal Hazardous or Special Waste-MHSW) in Ontario. Our members also sit on the British Columbia Product Care Association Board of Directors. We are working collectively with all stakeholders and governments to ensure we have the best programs for the benefit of all Canadians.
